Lawn Size Calculator
Convert measurements in feet to mowable square feet, acres, and square yards. Useful for preparing estimates and planning routine mowing jobs.
How to estimate lawn area in square feet
Measure the length and width of each rectangular section in feet. Multiply the two measurements to get square feet, add any second section, and subtract non-mowable space such as a driveway, building, or flower beds.
Formula: (length × width) + (second length × second width) − exclusions. One acre equals exactly 43,560 square feet; one square yard equals 9 square feet.
Examples
| Lawn dimensions | Area |
|---|---|
| 50 ft × 60 ft | 3,000 sq ft |
| 75 ft × 100 ft | 7,500 sq ft |
| 100 ft × 100 ft | 10,000 sq ft |
When the estimate may be inaccurate
Hills, irregular lot lines, curved planting beds, inaccessible corners, and areas covered by landscaping will affect the actual mowable area. For important bids, take on-site measurements or verify your dimensions using a suitable mapping service.
